Stories from the Field

Greeted as a Friend

My name is Stas, and I want to say "thank you" for the gift. We were given an electric fireplace, an unexpected gift for my family.

During the energy crisis, my friends told me that a church [Church Without Walls] was providing help, and at first, I didn't believe it could be true.

These days, everyone thinks about themselves. People were thinking about survival because it's difficult for everyone right now. With the energy crisis, every person in Transnistria is experiencing a shortage of money and food.

I decided to go and find out if this church really was providing help. It turned out to be true!

I was ashamed to ask for help as a grown man. But circumstances forced me to seek help. I told them about myself and how we needed an electric fireplace for heat. My daughter has young sons, and we were worried that they might get sick from living in the cold.

I was surprised when those at the church greeted me as a friend and treated me to delicious hot tea. I saw kind and attentive people there. In modern times, this is rare. Thanks for the gift!

More About Church Without Walls

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Church Without Walls has worked to provide hope to refugee families. They are meeting the physical and spiritual needs of refugees through food packages, hygiene kits, Bible studies, emotional and spiritual support. Through evangelistic outreach in Transnistrian universities, house churches were planted and became known as Church Without Walls. Monthly, the house churches worship collectively. They regularly minister to their own communities through outreaches, events and programs for children and teens.
