Adventure Camp Recipe: Sergey’s Campfire Roasted Apples
Cook Time: 20-30 minutes
Ingredients:
• Medium-sized apples (your choice of kind and quantity)
• Raisins, dates, and/or prunes
• Caramel candies (hard or soft)
• Brown sugar
• White sugar or vanilla-flavored sugar
• Aluminum foil
• A hot campfire with coals (can also be baked in an oven in an oven-safe dish)
Step 1: Build a campfire to get some hot coals for roasting.
Step 2: Tear a 1-foot-long piece of foil and put the apple in the middle of the foil. Remove the core of the apples (preferably an apple that is sweet, tangy, and juicy).
Step 3: Place the apple in the center of the foil with the hole facing up. Pour a tablespoon of brown sugar into the center and add raisins, dates, prunes, the caramel candy, and more brown sugar. Sprinkle the top with white sugar or vanilla-flavored sugar.

Step 4: Wrap the prepared apple tightly in foil, keeping the apple vertical, twisting the corners of the foil to create a tail on top of the apple.
Step 5: Tear a second piece of foil, similar in size, and wrap it tightly around the apple again, twisting the corners of the foil to create a larger tail. It allows you to grab the apple by the tail to put it in and out of the hot coals or the oven. NOTE: If you are making more than one apple, have each person bend a unique tail on their apple to make it easier to find their apple. (We sometimes joke and pour salt into one apple instead of sugar. The specially created tail on each apple guarantees you will not have the salty one.)

Step 6: Put the foil-wrapped apples in the hot coals and cover them completely with coals from the fire (or in a 350-degree Fahrenheit oven). Let them roast in the coals (or oven) for 20-30 minutes (depending on the type of apple and temperature of the coals).
Step 7: Remove the apples from the coals (or oven) by the tail.
Step 8: Everyone then looks for the special tail to find their apple so as not to get a surprise!
Step 9: Enjoy your roasted apple!

About Adventure Camps
The Adventure Camp program focuses on sharing the Gospel and discipling youth. It consists of three parts: Leadership School, Extreme Prayer Trips, and Summer Rafting Trips. Through the Leadership School, teens learn practical outdoor skills while reading and applying God’s Word to life circumstances. During the 5-day Summer Rafting Trips, participants recognize the importance of placing faith in Jesus. The goal is to provide teens with opportunities for growth in maturity and spirituality throughout the year and mentor them along the way. Summit Missions International provides funding, camping and sports equipment.
