Stories from the Field

Package of Hope

My name is Vladimir. My family came from Ukraine as refugees. When the war in Ukraine began, we moved to Transnistria because our friends were here. For the past two years, we have lived in Tiraspol, Transnistria. Starting life in a new place is difficult. All we had was a few suitcases with essentials.

Our apartment in Kherson, Ukraine, was destroyed after we left. It is possible that if we stayed in Kherson and did not come to Transnistria, our family would be dead.

After moving to Tiraspol, my wife began attending meetings for women organized by Church Without Walls.

Just this January, when lights and heat were turned off in Transnistria, we experienced significant financial difficulties. The factory where I worked shut down due to the energy crisis, leaving us without money, food, or heat.

During this time, my wife attended the meeting for women at Church Without Walls. She came home happy. She brought home a whole package of food to our family. We called this our "Package of Hope."

Thank you for your help and hope!

More About Church Without Walls

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Church Without Walls has worked to provide hope to refugee families. They are meeting the physical and spiritual needs of refugees through food packages, hygiene kits, Bible studies, emotional and spiritual support. Through evangelistic outreach in Transnistrian universities, house churches were planted and became known as Church Without Walls. Monthly, the house churches worship collectively. They regularly minister to their own communities through outreaches, events and programs for children and teens.
